Great Sand Dunes Engagement Session

Destiny + Elias came all the way from Kansas City for their engagement session at The Great Sand Dunes National Park here in beautiful Colorado!

The Great Sand Dunes is located about 4 hours outside of the Denver-metro area but well worth the drive!

My favorite time to go to the Sand Dunes is between March-May, late August-November. You definitely want to avoid the peak summer months, as the sand absorbs all that heat- making it very easy to burn your feet on the sand and no shade to protect yourself. You also don’t want to go in the winter, because believe it or not, the sand dunes actually do see plenty of snow!

I recommend bringing two outfits, one casual and one formal. Black and black formal outfits are VERY popular at this location, it is extremely flattering with the sandy brown tones.

I have obtained a 2 year permit for the Sand Dunes. Permit for this location usually cost $200, and since I already have one- you can save yourself on that additional cost!
