Meet the Queens!!

These two got married at the gorgeous North Star Gatherings in Idaho Springs, Colorado. You go up a scenic, dirt and gravel road winding around the mountain, giving your guest a true Colorado-experience accompanied by the most beautiful ceremony and cocktail hour views. The open bay windows during dinner provide your guests with that same experience while staying indoors. The couple also hired A touch of bliss to take care of all their coordination and decor needs, while the florist absolutely smashed it with the most lush, luxury type of florals I have ever seen. The venue reception was absolutely covered in floral, making it a part of their main theme.

The bride had many emotional first looks between her mother, father, and brothers— one of which being her twin, actually! The reason it was so emotional, aside from being their only girl, was the fact Sarah surprised her family members by wearing the same dress that her mother wore on her wedding day, preceded by her grandmother, who also made that dress by hand herself. Her mother actually had believed she was wearing the dress that was chosen all together earlier in a dress shop about a year prior, so to see her dress on her daughter was a complete shock.

The couple stressed to me the importance of finding a documentary style photographer who could not only capture the candid, natural moments between their loved ones at the reception, but also find someone who is good at giving direction, as they are self-proclaimed as “awkward” in front of the camera! I made sure to make the couple feel extremely comfortable with me through the process of their wedding party and individual portraits, even through some crazy wind that was blowing through from a nearby storm! They also wanted to find a photographer who could edit warm while still not foregoing the natural pops of color that were occurring through the flowers (not wanting the colorfulness of their spring wedding to be washed out in warmth)! I made sure to provide the couple with a perfect balance of warmth, brightness, and color as these are the things that were true to their day.
