Winter at the Manor House

The Manor House in Littleton, Colorado. This gorgeous historic mansion that now serves as a wedding venue was originally built in 1914. Manor House is nestled outside the foothills and surrounded by beautiful scenery, while still providing a profoundly unique experience by stepping into such a timeless space. The manor house has a similar architecture of the White House, with beautiful pillars leading you up to the front door steps. This was exactly what this couple envisioned when planning their wedding— timeless, classic, elegant, black tie, with an “old money” / vintage old Hollywood glamour type of flair. They envisioned a dimly lit candlelight dinner, up against a fireplace, surrounded by their closest friends and family— manor house provided exactly that. My personal favorite room at the manor house is the cozy library, which is absolutely perfect for posey type of portraits.

Paired with the couple’s vision, the venue’s aesthetic, and my own photography approached- together, we created beautiful moments and memories. It was extremely important for the couple to find a photographer with a documentary style approach with a dabble of artistic, editorial flair. They wanted someone to capture those naturally occurring, emotionally candid moments while also having a good balance of creative direction in order to have a wedding that looked just like their Pinterest board (and even better!).

Their day was shared with many tear-filled moments, including a dramatic first look that all of us 90’s kids just love. Em coming down the stairs for Aaron to turn around and see his bride for the very first time— It kind of reminded me of the scene of Cinderella story with Hillary duff. I am a first look and all the emotions that come with that as an almost-married couple embraces for the first time on their wedding day. However, my personal favorite moment of the day was when the couple decided to take a minute alone to practice their first dance before joining their guests during cocktail hour. I stood outside the glass doors, capturing this moment from afar when two guests approached to see what the newlyweds were up to, to which I overheard one say, “Oh, to be a young and in love married couple.” — A reminder to never stop dancing in those quiet moments with each other, do it while no one is supposed to be watching.
