Golden Hour Boulder Session

Dominick and Kalin did their session with two outfits and two locations in Boulder in the early spring. The first one being more formal and dressy, the other as a casual, which I always recommend to my couples because it provides variety in their shots.

Colorado can be so unpredictable especially during this time of the year, so we waited for some decent weather and got some photos done this March. As you can see, there was still snow on parts of the field but overall it was dry enough to sit on a blanket and warm enough to actually enjoy.

Not only that, but they brought along their baby boy German shepherd puppy, Gunny. I honestly love working with puppies because it just takes making one odd noise for the puppy to look directly at you, while this technic doesn’t always work as well with adult dogs.

I love when couples bring their fur babies to sessions.

Boulder is such an easy spot to shoot at, just keep in mind that it is extremely popular so you will have to be comfortable with taking photos in front of other people since the words seclusion + Boulder do not go together in a sentence. I usually like to start out at Chautauqua Park with that big open field and then make our way over to Lost gulch overlook for some adventurous shots on the rocks. This is not your spot if you are afraid of heights or are dressed up in heels, this may not be the spot for you.

Also keep in mind that this spot does require an OSMP permit which can either be a per usage fee or annual, but I have chosen to purchase an annual since I am up here so often and it is so close to where I live.
