Fall Wedding at the Oaks
A wedding that feels like a mixture of a Frank Sinatra and Adele song. The vibe of the day was classy, upscale, elegant, editorial. And what better place to host an event with such a vision as the Oaks at Plum Creek? The couple had a perfect fall day, not too hot and not too sunny- which meant they were able to host their ceremony outdoors. They have the most beautiful getting ready space that I have ever seen in the entire state of Colorado at any venue I have visited- it is extremely spacious and carefully curated for photography purposes at the same time. The oaks at plum creek has a really gorgeous indoor and outdoor space, so you truly can never go wrong in any type of weather conditions.
This black tie event was the perfect setting for moody and dramatic portraits inside the main bar and hidden away speakeasy space in the back. We decided to utilize the pool table inside the speakeasy for the couple portraits, and at the end of the night, I even came back to get a flash detail picture with two pool balls with a 10 and 14 to commemorate their wedding date. The couple had a pretty drastic height difference, which some couples sometimes express nervousness over how photos will look— to this I say, don’t worry and trust your photographer to pose and direct you in different ways. The height difference will always exist, and it will always be evident, but I am here to help bring you two together for photos to not look or feel awkward— sometimes that requires the bride sitting up on the bar, staggered posing, or the groom bending his knees a little bit to get a really beautiful nose to nose shot. The key of this is to not worry, and NOT hunch over! Embrace the difference, and allow me to do the rest.
To make their ceremony a little different, they had their aunt officiate, all their immediate family members share in different wishes over a cup of wine which was later shared by the couple, then a smashing of glass as a jewish wedding tradition.
